School lunches are a popular topic among state and national education and health boards in the United States. Healthful food is vital for high-energy, growing kids. Saints Francis & Clare of Assisi Energy Cafe is proud to offer delicious meals that provide the essential nutrition that students need in order to be ready to learn.

If you want kids to eat better, you can't simply change what's on the lunch menu; you have to change their perspectives. By guiding our children to make healthy choices and offering a plethora of delicious food choices, our cafe staff is committed to healthy eating!

At Aramark, our commitment is to create healthier environments and communities, by providing not only healthy foods but comprehensive nutrition and wellness education. Food Allergies and intolerances

1) Children with disabilities
a. In accordance with Federal Laws and the USDA’s policies, the cafeteria staff will accommodate dietary issues due to a disability. Disabilities must be diagnosed by a licensed medical authority, and the proper forms must be turned into the schools nurse.
2) Children with allergies and intolerances
a. Students must be diagnosed by a licensed medical authority, and the proper forms must be turned into the schools nurse. The documentation must state the allergy, foods to avoid, and the foods that may be substituted. These requests will be handled on a case by case basis.
b. USDA guidelines DO NOT recognize lactose intolerance as an allergy and do not allow us to provide a substitute beside water.

Please note that neither the cafeteria staff, nor the staff at SSFC are responsible for ensuring that your child follows their prescribed diet

Cafeteria Policies

Students may purchase lunch from the cafeteria, including milk. They have a daily choice of a hot meal, Salad Bar, Nacho bar, or Sandwich Bar. The lunch menu will be posted monthly on the school website. Lunch counts are taken daily in the morning.

Each student is given a student ID number and an online lunch account that must be set up prior to the start of the school each year. Parents may add money to their child’s accounts anytime by accessing your online account ( and loading funds or you may send a check made payable to SSFC Café or cash in an envelope. Please clearly label these payments with your students first and last name. One check may be written for multiple siblings.

If your child forgets their lunch money or your child has a zero or negative balance on their lunch account, they will always receive lunch. Accounts in arrears will be charged with a borrow fee of $0.25 in addition to the normal charge for that day until the account has sufficient fund. This fee will not be assessed until September 1st, 2017.

If you wish to have lunch with your child, in accordance with the USDA healthier environment initiative and the schools wellness policy, we ask that you do not bring fast food. Additionally, this becomes disruptive to other students and directly conflicts with our wellness policy. Please understand that students will not be able to trade lunch with another or share food for sanitation and nutritional reasons. We also want to ensure students are eating the lunch that parents intended. Lastly, we ask parents who pack lunches for students to not pack sodas for your child’s lunch. Such drinks should be replaced with a more appropriate substitution for school. These drinks again conflict with the schools wellness policy.
