Marriage Preparation

"But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate.”

We hope engaged couples will see this parish program as a valuable tool to help them prepare for marriage. We support them with our prayers as they get ready to celebrate this special Sacrament.

Parish Guidelines for Marriage Preparation:

The parish office should be contacted a minimum of six months prior to the proposed date for the ceremony. One member of the engaged couple should be a registered parishioner.

Marriage Preparation includes:

  • Meet with the Priest or Deacon to begin the marriage preparation process

  • Meetings with a trained sponsor couple to discuss several topics including finances, intimacy, communication, commitment, conflict resolution, children and Church.

  • Attend a Pre-Cana Conference or Tobit Weekend for engaged couples offered through the Archdiocese of Indianapolis

  • Meet with the music director and wedding hostess who will assist the couple with the details of the marriage liturgy and wedding rehearsal, when the wedding will be held at Saints Francis & Clare.
